How far can we say that All My Sons is a tragedy?

All My Sons is defined by as a tragedy, and certainly has certain themes within it that you would find in the tragic genre:
  • Death
  • Love
  • Family
  • Guilt
  • Blame
It can be seen as a domestic tragedy, as it is a play that revolves around one predominant setting - the back garden - and around the troubles and relationships of one family in particular - the Keller family.

I believe All My Sons is a tragedy as it expresses the key tragic themes, and guilt in particular. It is notable that it ends with death, and even more notable, suicide. However it differs from Shakespearean tragedy in the sense there is no resolution, and if there is it is hard to find one.
